Instagram Likes · Likes for your posts, reels and carousels, delivered in minutes, from Indian or global accounts.OrderBrands look at engagement rate before they look at your follower count. A creator with 12,000 followers and strong engagement often gets a better deal than one with 80,000 and silence under every post.
The formula
The most common version:
Engagement rate = (likes + comments) ÷ followers × 100
Some brands add saves and shares, or calculate it per reach instead of per follower. If you're pitching, ask which version they use. You can use our free engagement rate calculator to do the maths.
What counts as good?
Rough benchmarks for Indian accounts:
| Followers | Typical engagement rate |
|---|---|
| Under 10K | 4% – 8% |
| 10K – 50K | 2.5% – 5% |
| 50K – 200K | 1.5% – 3.5% |
| 200K+ | 1% – 2.5% |
Engagement naturally falls as accounts grow, so a 2% rate at 300K followers is healthy.
How to improve engagement
- Ask a specific question at the end of captions, not "thoughts?".
- Reply to every comment in the first hour.
- Post carousels: they get swiped, saved and revisited.
- Use Stories daily with polls and question boxes.
A note on bought followers
If you add followers without adding engagement, your engagement rate drops on paper. That's why it's smart to pair a follower order with likes on your recent posts, so the ratio looks consistent.
